DopplerPad App Reviews

Amazing

Ive got just about every good music creation app and this one in some ways beats them all. I would put it right up there with BeatMaker. Its fun and easy to come up with great-sounding loops. The samples are excellent. The sampler works great. I cant put it down. The way that all of the features in the app are organized makes it easy to be creative without stumbling over menus and buttons. Very intuitive. A couple of suggestions. Please make it possible to disable velocity. More often than not for me it gets in the way. I would also love to see, in addition to the gating, a quantizing feature for making beats. And wav expert would be awesome. The most important feature for me thats not there yet though is sample import. Quality is not great recording with the device itself. Even better would be integration with the Noise.io library. The way that BeatMaker implemented this is phenomenal, I use it constantly. But these arent shortcomings, they would just be features that are nice to have. One thing that can be a shortcoming is the limited space that you have to save your loops. I filled it up the second day. Its not too bad if you have basic recording equipment though. I just dump everything out into my lexicon adc and Start filling it up again.

A good start

The foundation of a good product is here, but DopplerPad is missing the following key features that would make it a viable iDevice musical app: - The ability to undo record operations. - Better quality instrument recordings. - Exporting of your recordings. - Importing instruments. - Switching the orientation of the interface. For some reason, they have DopplerPads interface 180 degrees from what most apps commonly use. With this layout the power cord and audio out are right in the way of your hand. - A more consistent volume control. As it is, when you place your finger down on the screen, the sound is always louder than it will be when you drag it about. You cannot keep it at a similar pressure to maintain a constant volume. It would be nice to be able to set a pressure or volume level. There are more fixes that need to be made, but these are the ones that have to be addressed right now. If they were, DopplerPad would go from a novelty to a creative musical app.

Beastie game

I can make the sickest beatz on this stuff great app!!

Revolutionary!!!

This is truly a revolutionary tool! A new genre of music will emerge from this. I cant wait to see/hear the things that will be created from this. Keep the updates coming, port it to a windows tablet...

Better and better!

Wow, fantastic update! Love all the new sounds... Theres so much I barely know where to start! I do wish the loops area would hold more loops now that theres so many sound options. One of the best and most unique music apps out there- theres nothing like it-- and when they get the 4 track integration up It will be monstrous!!!!

Beats

If it had a quantizer, this would be a five star app. As it stands its still totally fun and useful, and has a very clever interface.

Great!

Just bought this app and can say it is really cool the beats you can come up with are awesome and the interface is sweet! More sounds plz

Great program! Can get better!

Nice program but having trouble getting a constant volume when tapping notes while recording, can only do that by slidding. Should not be dificult to make an upgrade for selectable fixed velocity so notes stay at the same volume. Will make a great improvement. Thanks

Not bad

Clicks and pops in audio...limited instrument pallete. And wheres the metronome? Beta quality, but on the right track.

:( :(

Update 3: STILL waiting for the tempo control to work. Makes me sad.. As it is at this point this app is beta quality and not a great value compared to others that are completely functional. Since Im unable to use it at all, I had to drop the stars to 2. Update: still waiting for tempo issue to be addressed. Agree with other reviews that without a piano roll or at least an undo-- its near impossible to create perfect loops-- the overlap you can hear when your timing is off is annoying also. I tucked away this app after the day I bought thinking wed get a oops, my bad quick fix update.. Am let down that yesterdays update didnt fix or acknowledge these problems. Its a killer design dont let it fizzle out.. A lot of potential.. Again just not workable yet..

Good but can be much better

I love this app but I get angry that everytime I tap on it the sound fluctuates so I end up getting high and low sounds on my loops. Also this thing needs a metronome if you can fix these problems this thing would be the best app ever, but as I said i love this app hours of fun on it thanks for this app

Best music app Ive found for the iPhone

DopplerPad is a synthesizer pad (similar to a Korg Kaossilator if you know what that is) combined with simple sequencing and even sampling. The 2.0 update includes a synth editor/creator, effects that can be applied to any other sound, and an effects editor/creator. Before the 2.0 update it was merely great. Now its awesome. Its pretty powerful and a lot of fun. You can sample with the microphone and play any part of the sample with your finger. Theres wifi sync, so you can easily bring loops onto your computer and drop them into GarageBand or any other music program (like Reason). Theres even program sharing. I havent tried it, but reading the description it sounds like it works well and is very powerful. Wish list for future updates: -True sequencing, and note sequencing (I wanna make the Mario theme!) -The ability to clear individual instruments, instead of the entire loop -Better volume control and mixing of sounds within loops

Not quite...

I really love using this app buy i thought for sure with the new update they would add an undo function or at least a metronome but so far nothing! I will admit that the synth and effects editor is really fun to use. Those were definitely worth adding. But please add: An undo function A metronome Auto-quantize And this app will be perfect!

This is what an app should be!

Easy to use, great sound, fast set-up! A little visually abstract at first, I was laying down beats with this and transferring them to my Four Track app within minutes! The gate appregiator keeps everything in time, changes can be made on the fly, and there is just no end to what can be done here. Wish there were a few pre-loaded instrument samples to use along with the synth stuff, but its still a bargain for the price! Truly impressed!

Dope.

This is like Flying Lotus in a box... ;)

Great app, but does need UNDO

Really fun app and creative tool, also like the easy transfer to fourtrack app. UNDO function really is needed still though.

Great App !

Love the sounds & visuals. You really should have this app if you are a music pro. Im not & I still enjoy it so much!

It works well.

We plug my iPhone into Ableton and this app works well. Its the painful price of results. Get this app.

Great app

This is a really nice app - works great but I wish the audiocopy worked with the intua beatmaker app ( update maybe? )

Lacking

Needs higher quality drums, undo, more sounds...
